Penske Helps U.S. Speedskater Move

READING, Pa., June 16, 2007 - Today, U.S. Olympic speedskater Allison Baver became Salt Lake City's newest resident, arriving in a sparkling 16-foot yellow Penske rental truck. She trekked over 600 miles from the U.S. Short Track National Team's previous facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. to their new training home in Salt Lake City.

Baver signed a sponsorship deal with Penske Truck Rental in March 2006. "I am thankful that Penske is assisting me with this move," Baver stated. "This will allow me to focus on my training. Penske's support has been invaluable in my pursuit of Olympic gold."

Baver competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, her first Olympic appearance. She was a member of the 3000m women's relay seventh place team.

Baver is in the process of beginning a foundation for children, to promote healthy lifestyles through exercise and proper nutrition. She is also looking to become more active in the community.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, Baver placed seventh in the Women's 500m, and was a part of the U.S. 3000m relay fourth place team.

She finished first overall at the 2007 U.S. National Short Track Championships in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She has captured six World Cup medals, the most of any U.S. female short-track skater.

Baver is looking forward to making her third Olympic appearance at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

"I'm excited about training in Salt Lake City," said Baver, 26. "Every day, I am training hard, setting my sights on breaking through and winning gold medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics. This is a beautiful, picturesque area, and I am glad the U.S. Short Track National Team relocated to Utah."
