Penske Logistics Drivers Honored

READING, Pa., May 23, 2008 - A trio of California Penske Logistics truck drivers were honored by the Truck Renting and Leasing Association. Jerry Azzalina of San Leandro, Wallace Reed Bowers Jr. of Fremont and Bryn Williams of San Jose were among drivers receiving certificates of merit.

TRALA recognizes those who feature an excellent driving record, a commitment to continuing driver education, and who come highly recommended from employers and customers.

Azzalina and Bowers Jr. work at the Penske Logistics facility in Hayward, Calif., while Williams is employed at the San Jose, Calif. location.

Azzalina is a Vietnam War veteran who's logged over 3.5 million miles in 41 years of safe driving, the last five with Penske. He is a Smith System trainer, and instructs new northern California Bay area hires in principles of the top-caliber fleet driver safety program. "I feel very humbled," stated Azzalina. "It does say something for my driving ability."

Bowers has driven over one million miles with a near-perfect safety record. He has spent seven years at Penske Logistics, and has been a truck driver for nearly 30 years. "I'm extremely proud and honored to be nominated by Penske Logistics," said Bowers. "I practice the Smith System daily: I have learned it, I know it and use it. It is my most valuable tool."

Williams joined Penske two years ago. He has proved a model of safety, accumulating more than 600,000 miles in 22 years. "It is a great honor," Williams noted. "It's nice to be recognized for what you do."

Terry Miller, Executive Vice President - Operations, Penske Logistics, is pleased that Penske drivers have been once again recognized for their commitment to excellence. In 2007, two Penske Logistics truck drivers were honored by TRALA: John Merritts was named driver of the year, and Gary McClendon was given a certificate of merit.

"On behalf of Penske Logistics, I would like to thank Jerry, Wallace and Bryn for receiving a merit citation from TRALA," said Miller. "They deserve this recognition, and they serve as a fine example to the thousands of Penske Logistics truck drivers across the U.S."
