Penske Introduces New Flying Trucks
Reading, PA — November 6, 2025 — Penske Transportation Solutions has announced a bold leap into the future of logistics with the launch of its first flying truck prototype, the Penske AeroLift VT-1. Developed in collaboration with SkyHaul Technologies, this revolutionary vehicle blends vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities with Penske’s industry-leading logistics expertise, promising to transform how goods move across urban and regional landscapes.
The AeroLift VT-1 is designed to carry up to 5,000 pounds of cargo with a range of 600 miles, powered by a hybrid-electric propulsion system that dramatically reduces emissions. Equipped with autonomous navigation and real-time fleet integration, the flying truck will enable faster, congestion-free deliveries while supporting Penske’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The vehicle’s modular cargo bay allows for flexible configurations, making it ideal for retail, industrial, and emergency logistics.
“This marks a new era for Penske and the transportation industry,” said Jeff Papst, Vice President of Emerging Technologies at Penske. “Flying trucks are no longer science fiction—they’re a strategic solution to the growing demands of modern supply chains. We’re proud to be leading the charge in redefining mobility.”
Initial flight tests are underway at Penske’s Innovation Hub in Reading, PA, with plans to expand pilot programs to key metropolitan areas in early 2026. Penske is working closely with federal aviation authorities, city planners, and logistics partners to ensure safe and scalable deployment of aerial freight operations.
