Over the last 12 plus months, Penske Truck Leasing marked some key milestones related to bringing commercial electric trucks to market and testing these vehicles in real-world applications with customers and within our subsidiary's fleet at Penske Logistics. Here are a few of the highlights:


Penske Truck Leasing Received its First eM2 Battery Electric Truck


Daimler Trucks North America
(DTNA) delivered the first vehicle in its Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet – a Freightliner eM2 – to Penske Truck Leasing in December 2018. Roger Nielsen, president and CEO of DTNA, ceremonially handed over the eM2 key to Brian Hard, president and CEO of Penske Truck Leasing, during an event in Carson, California. Read More.

Penske Truck Leasing
added FUSO eCanter battery-electric work trucks to its expansive logistics, leasing and rental fleets. Penske was among the first fleet operators to take delivery of these limited-production medium-duty vehicles. Read More.

Penske Truck Leasing Opened High-Speed Commercial Electric Truck Chargers in Southern California


Delivering on its commitment to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure at its facilities, Penske Truck Leasing opened commercial heavy-duty electric vehicle charging stations with 14 high-speed chargers at four of its existing facilities in Southern California. The company's near term plan included adding at least six more chargers, bringing the total number to 20. Penske believes these were the first DC fast charging stations in the U.S. designed specifically for heavy-duty commercial electric vehicles. Read More.

Penske Advanced Commercial Electric Vehicle Maintenance Procedures


Penske Truck Leasing
completed a second round of electric vehicle maintenance training at its facility in San Diego, California. Ten Penske technicians from five locations in Southern California, where Penske's electric fleet is domiciled, participated in the daylong training on maintenance procedures for commercial electric vehicles. Penske Truck Leasing

American Tire Distributors Selected Penske Truck Leasing to Pilot Electric Truck


American Tire Distributors (ATD), one of the largest independent suppliers of tires to the replacement tire market, announced a collaboration with Penske Truck Leasing to test electric trucks in the Southern California market. The partnership will consist of a three-month electric vehicle pilot at ATD's Santa Fe Springs location. Read More.

grew its electric vehicle fleet with the addition of the Kalmar Ottawa Electric Terminal Tractor (T2E). announced that it successfully logged more than 10,000 over-the-road miles making multiple, daily store deliveries on dedicated routes in Southern California for a leading quick service restaurant chain using two electric Freightliner Innovation Fleet eCascadias.
