Penske Logistics Thanks Canadian Drivers During National Trucking Week
Professional truck drivers have faced the challenges of the pandemic with strength and resilience as they worked to keep the global supply chain moving.
Increased demand for the staples of daily life – food, household goods and other items – has challenged the global supply chain to keep up with consumer needs.
Penske Logistics joins with the Canadian Trucking Alliance in celebrating National Trucking Week, which began on Sunday and continues through Saturday, Sept. 11.
"I want to take a moment to thank all of the men and women professional drivers who work for Penske," said Marc Althen, President, Penske Logistics. "You put in long hours and make hard sacrifices all to ensure we have everything we need from medicine to small luxuries to food."
The CTA joined with provincial truck associations across Canada to create National Trucking Week to highlight the contributions made by 400,000 Canadians – among them thousands of truck drivers – whose work in the trucking industry helps keep the Canadian economy moving.
In spite of the increased demands, safety has been top of mind with our drivers.
"Penske's professional truck drivers have helped to set the industry standard. You approach every day with safety at the top of your priorities," said Jeff Jackson, EVP – Operations, Penske Logistics. "And because of your professionalism and hard work, we have been able to grow and thrive in a challenging environment."
Penske Logistics appreciates the extraordinary contribution of its more than 11,200 professional truck drivers across Canada and the U.S. who help keep the world moving forward.
Drivers in the U.S. will be the focus of a similar celebration next week.
National Truck Driver Appreciation week begins Sunday, Sept. 12, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 18, sponsored by the American Trucking Associations.
